Polly Lucinda Culver Millage

(1845-1925 )

Cin, as she was known in the family, was born on July 19, 1845 in York Township, Michigan, the daughter of Jesse Culver and Polly Root. She was married to Richard H. Millage on September 16, 1865 by the Presbyterian minister in Saline, Michigan. They lived in the Milan, Michigan area most all of their lives and had 7 children. Richard died on December 22, 1915 at age 85 and Cin died on March 16, 1925. They are both buried in Marble Park Cemetery in Milan, Michigan. If there is a "mother and father" of the Culver Cousins Reunion, it would have to be Polly Lucinda ("Cin") Culver and her husband, Richard Millage. Their shared the same birthday (July 19) and the joint birthday celebration turned into an annual family reunion in 1909. There are even local newspaper accounts of the joint birthday celebration dating back to 1901:

Richard enlisted in  Company I of the 15th Michigan Infantry at the outbreak of the Civil War and served for three years. He then reenlisted in Company H of the 2d Michigan Cavalry where served until the close of the War. This is his application for his military pension based on his War service.
