William Hezekiah Culver

(1834 - 1929)

William Hezekiah Culver (known as "Kie") was born on July 25, 1834 in the town of Yates, in Orleans County, New York. He moved to Michigan with his parents, Jesse and Polly Root Culver,  and grandparents, Phineas and Electa Witherell Culver,  as a young child. He was a farmer and married Cornelia Millage in 1861. They had 4 children - Delbert (1862-1893); Lizzie (1865-1883); Etta (1867-1918); and Clarence (1875-1953). Kie served in the Civil War in Company D of the 20th Michigan Infantry. Cornelia died February 14, 1884 and Kie died on March 7, 1929 in Stockbridge, Michigan.

This is the enlistment record when Kie entered Company D of the 20th Michigan Infantry in Ann Arbor on September 8, 1864.He was discharged on May 30,1865 at the end of the War.
