Brecon Turns 900

1990

The citizens of Brecon invited their Saline friends to come to Wales for a birthday party - the 900th anniversary of the founding of Brecon Town. "Brecon 900" was a year-long celebration of the grand and glorious history of Brecon.

Mayor Patrick Little led 50 Salinians to join in the celebration in early July. So the Saline folks would not get homesick, the Brecon hosts put on a 4th of July picnic (to celebrate the United States' 217th birthday).

The local festivities included a day long entertainment celebration, featuring the Aberhonddu District Men's Chorus and concluding with a boat parade on the canal.
