The Welsh Have Landed

| Following a first day trip to the Michigan State Capitol in Lansing, the visitors' bus brought them directly to Saline City Hall for the official welcome ceremony. | |

| Current Saline Mayor Gretchen Driskell welcomed Brecon Deputy Mayor Cllr. Rosemary Evans and the contingent of Brecon visitors at Saline City Hall on September 7. Mayor Driskell presented a crystal dragon sculpture on behalf of the City of Saline. | |

| Former Mayors Hon. Donald E. Shelton and Mark Hopper greeted the Brecon visitors and the host families. Judge Shelton welcomed the group with the Saline Brecon Friendship Toast. | |

| Cllr. Evans presented Mayor Driskell with a beautiful painting of Llanfaes Bridge in Brecon and a sculpture depicting a Welsh shepherd and part of his flock. | |

| An overflow crowd joined the welcome ceremony. | |

| On behalf of former Brecon Mayor and Mayoress Arthur and Dilys Bowley, Ian Gerrish presented the City of Saline with a new Welsh flag, which was promptly raised by Police Chief Paul Bunton to fly at City Hall during the visit. | |

| The Saline Fiddlers Restrung entertained during the social reception after the ceremony. The reception was a grand time renewing old friendships and making new ones. | |

| And the evening concluded with Ian Gerrish "tripping the light fantastic" with an unidentified, totally innocent and unsuspecting man from Saline. | |
