The Welsh Have Landed

Following a first day trip to the Michigan State Capitol in Lansing, the visitors' bus brought them directly to Saline City Hall for the official welcome ceremony.
Current Saline Mayor Gretchen Driskell welcomed Brecon Deputy Mayor Cllr. Rosemary Evans and the contingent of Brecon visitors at Saline City Hall on September 7. Mayor Driskell presented a crystal dragon sculpture on behalf of the City of Saline.
Former Mayors Hon. Donald E. Shelton and Mark Hopper greeted the Brecon visitors and the host families. Judge Shelton welcomed the group with the Saline Brecon Friendship Toast.
Cllr. Evans presented Mayor Driskell  with a beautiful painting of Llanfaes Bridge in Brecon and a sculpture depicting a Welsh shepherd and part of his flock.
An overflow crowd joined the welcome ceremony.
On behalf of former Brecon Mayor and Mayoress Arthur and Dilys Bowley, Ian Gerrish presented the City of Saline with a new Welsh flag, which was promptly raised by Police Chief Paul Bunton to fly at City Hall during the visit.
The Saline Fiddlers Restrung entertained during the social reception after the ceremony. The reception was a grand time renewing old friendships and making new ones.
And the evening concluded with Ian Gerrish "tripping the light fantastic" with an unidentified, totally innocent and unsuspecting man from Saline.
